Aug 2016 Newsletter

Greetings Everyone,
The summer is just flying by. It's hard to imagine that the month of August has arrived. I hope all are well and that you are enjoying the hazy lazy days of summer. Before you know it, we will be getting ready for curling.I just had my curling shoes re-gripped in preparation for the coming season. You may also want to have a look at your curling gear to see if any of it needs to be replaced as registration is just around the corner. In fact, registration nightis only 38 days away!!!!

Registration:

Registration will take place at the club on Wednesday, September 7 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. We will be having a BBQ as well, so come on down and enjoy a burger, register and catch up with members you may not have seen since curling ended back in March. We are always looking for new members so talk to neighbours, work colleagues and friends about our great club and the various leagues that are available. Don't forget to tell them about the "New Member" rate of $200.00 which allows them to play as many nights as they wish all season long. Click here for the form with the new rates. Feel free to print a copy of the form and drop off your completed form and payment to the club office if you are unable to attend registration night.

Lindsay Fair Gates:

The Lindsay Exhibition is coming up fast and we will be looking for volunteers to help out at the gates over the five days of the fair. This year the fair runs from Wednesday, September 21st to Sunday, September 25th. If you are available to help us out and would like to volunteer at a specific time please contact Cathy Terry (705-878-4034). In the very near future, a telephone committee will be calling asking if you are able to help fill the 190 spots required to operate the gates during the Fair. Please help out if possible as this is another major fundraiser for our club.

Around the Club:

We have given the front foyer and the downstairs lounge a fresh coat of paint and we are considering doing the upstairs lounge area as well. Thanks goes out to Jeff Wiltshire who organized the painting bee and also all the volunteers who helped out.
The installation of the steel roof is going to take place this month and the carpets are scheduled to be cleaned the second week of August.

We have also been working on writing grant applications to both Federal and Provincial agencies to see if we can secure funding towards the renovations required to make our club fully accessible. It is a slow process but we are confident that we will have them completed by the September 14th deadline.

Reminders For Your Calendar:
