June 2019 Newsletter

Hello everyone,

Where has the time gone? May flew by and we are beginning a new month with hopes that it will stop raining and it starts to warm up. Many folks have registered for next years' curling season and because of their Early Bird Registration their name will be put into the draw to win back their membership at the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, June 25th at 7:00 pm.

During the month of May we hosted the Lindsay Creative Quilters’ Guild Quilt Show. The club was quite a busy spot, despite the construction on Peel Street and the rainy weather. The Guild members and many volunteers were busy setting up tables, quilt stands, vendor tables, organizing the members’ boutique, kitchen and tea room in preparation for the actual show. They certainly have it down to a science as everything was put into place without a hitch. The vendors, 20 in all, came from far and near to take part in this show and were set up around the perimeter of the ice shed with all of the quilts displayed in the center. It was quite a sight to see!! The organizing committee did a tremendous job and we were pleased to provide the venue for the show.

Another rental in May was the Humane Society Yard Sale. Again, it was just amazing to watch the set-up of the sale. Everyone had a job and once the tables were set up all the donated items were quickly set out and displayed around the playing surface. The day of the sale people were lined up outside the club waiting patiently for the doors to open. There was something for everyone and many treasurers were found. We were pleased to host the yard sale and look forward to doing it again next year.

We had a few other smaller rentals in May and we also have a couple already lined up for this month. This revenue helps us to pay the bills that we have over the summer months. Even though the club is closed, we still have bills to pay and we need the revenue generated from these rentals and the Early Bird registrations.

Annual General Meeting:

Do not forget about our AGM on Tuesday, June 25th at 7:00 pm. We will be reviewing the Financial Statements and activities that occurred over the past curling season. Directors will also be elected to serve on the Board for the upcoming year. We will be discussing other business that is important to you as a member of our club such as membership fees so please plan to attend this very important meeting. If you are unable to attend, see attached June 2018 Minutes (click the link for the minutes) and a Proxy form, (click the link for the form) that you can fill out and drop off at the club.

Just a reminder that the summer hours for the Club are from 10:00 am to noon on Tuesday and Thursdays. All calls and emails will be dealt with during these times. Have a wonderful relaxing summer!!
